Welcome to the team: Solaris Engineer (m/f/diverse)
Your tasks
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Solaris operating systems.
- Managing users, groups, and access rights.
- Handling patch and release management (OS updates, security patches).
- Monitoring systems (performance, availability, logs).
- Configuring file systems, ZFS, and volume management.
- Setting up and managing network settings (IP, routing, DNS, NFS, etc.).
- Analyzing and optimizing system performance (CPU, memory, I/O, network).
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Hardening systems according to security best practices.
- Managing access control, SSH, sudo, and auditing.
- Implementing security policies and compliance requirements.
- Designing and supporting backup and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery tests.
- Developing shell scripts (e.g. Korn/Bash) to automate routine tasks.
- Supporting configuration management tools (if used in the environment).
- Creating scripts for monitoring, reporting, and housekeeping.
- Contributing to the design and planning of Solaris infrastructure.
- Executing migrations (to new hardware, new Solaris versions, or other operating systems).
- Documenting system landscapes, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Collaborating with application teams (e.g. database and business application teams).
Your Profile
- Good Oracle Solaris knowledge. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) knowledge level expected.
- Virtualization: Good Oracle Zones knowledge (Solaris 11 native Zones, Solaris 11 Kernel Zones, Solaris 10 Branded Zones).
- Good knowledge of Oracle Solaris Cluster, high availability and disaster recovery concepts.
- Experience with OS side administration of SAN storage, ZFS, volume management, RAID, SAN multipathing.
- Security topics (SIEM, Security Patching, PAM)
- Extensive experience in IT security
- Familiarity with LDAP, Kerberos, Identity and Access Management
- Familiarity with Python, shell programming, Solaris IPS packaging system, Solaris release management
- High result and goal orientation

We are looking for a Solaris Engineer to join one of our infrastructure teams, which is responsible for implementing and supporting our Unix Solaris environment in Commerzbank, including the configuration and standardization of Solaris Unix systems and the associated storage configuration.
