Application Operations Engineer (MQ) (m/f/diverse)

    Your tasks

    • Managing, configuring and maintaining enterprise-level messaging platforms (e.g., IBM MQ, Kafka);
    • Performing hands-on configuration, installation and tuning of IBM MQ environment;
    • Developing scripts and automation processes to streamline system deployment, testing and operational tasks;
    • Identifying and resolving issues related to message delivery, reliability and queues across diverse environments;
    • Proposing and supporting customer’s configuration adjustments during IBM MQ version upgrades;
    • Maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, standard operating procedures and knowledge-sharing with stakeholders;
    • Designing, deploying and managing infrastructure and solutions on Azure or GCP using containerization technologies like Open Shift, Docker/Kubernetes;
    • Monitoring the health, performance, capacity and availability of messaging systems, ensuring up time and making recommendations for improvements as needed. Having ability to develop dashboards [ELK + Logstash stack] and alerts to proactively monitoring and mitigating incidents [ServiceNow] and reducing resolution times;
    • Supporting the operations team as part of on-call support.
    • Working in an Agile team setup.

    Your Profile

    • Experience with support of IBM MQ;
    • Very good knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Shell, Bash etc.;
    • Solid knowledge of version control systems like Git, Bitbucket etc;
    • Goof knowledge of tools like Ansible, TeamCity, Argo CD;
    • Knowledge of OpenShift and Docker/Kubernetes;
    • Experience with monitoring tools like Elastic Stack and Dynatrace, Kibana;
    • Familiar with Kafka;
    • Basic understanding of Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow;
    • Good team player with high ability to work in cross-locational and international teams;
    • University degree in IT or relevant.

    Business Connectivity Cluster accelerates the transformation of Commerzbank into a digital technology company by developing and promoting internal and external APIs, Kafka technology, MQ service, MFT, Token Manager that are an integral part of our digital infrastructure, positioning Commerzbank in the German market as the first port of call for simple and innovative customer solutions. We have built a team to provide robust enterprise-level messaging middleware, developed by IBM. MQ primary function is to facilitate secure, reliable and asynchronous communication between applications, systems or services in a distributed environment.

    We are seeking a skilled and motivated Application Operations Engineer to join our MQ Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining robust messaging solutions to support our critical business applications. As part of the AO practice, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance and scalability of our messaging systems such as IBM MQ or similar technologies.
