Chapter Lead Data Science (ASDI) (m/f/diverse)

• Proven experience in leading and developing a team of different skills – recruiting and retaining employees, guiding them in their daily work in the teams, and ensuring their professional development;
• Several years work experience in similar responsibility or equivalent practical experience as a Data Scientist;
• Comprehensive and deep knowledge of current state-of-the-art AI methods and techniques (classical ML, GenAI, Agentic AI), including applications, challenges and limitations in productive use cases. Deep expertise in statistical methods;
• Strong experience in development of software products in Python, including the main state-of-the-art frameworks and technologies;
• Inspired driver of change, thriving in fast-paced, evolving environments and ensuring teams adapt and grow with new challenges and technologies;
• Strong interest in collaboration in an agile setup and with cross-functional, distributed teams;
• University degree in IT or relevant;
• Fluency in English – both written and spoken.

As Chapter Lead, you will take on a leadership role, responsible for a team of Data Scientists based in Sofia within the AI Solutions & Data Insights cluster. You will have disciplinary responsibility for your chapter, ensuring it aligns with the cluster's agile approach and supports the achievement of product owners' goals by providing the necessary skills and capacity for cross-functional teams. These teams consist of cloud engineers, data scientists, and business experts working collaboratively to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

Your chapter will focus on developing and implementing AI-driven use cases and reusable AI services for diverse stakeholders across Commerzbank. Leveraging state-of-the-art techniques, including classical Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI, your team will shape innovative solutions that empower the bank’s transformation into a data and AI driven organization.

Beyond your leadership responsibilities you will actively contribute your expertise as an experienced Data Scientist, providing technical and methodological guidance and mentorship to your team members while staying up-to-date on emerging tools, methods, and trends in AI methodologies.

Operating across locations in Germany, Lodz, and Sofia, you will foster collaboration and seamless coordination between cells, chapters, and teams. Your role includes facilitating knowledge exchange, enabling smooth cooperation, and leveraging your expertise to drive progress and innovation. A mindset of customer orientation, openness to change, and a strong commitment to agile values are essential for success in this position.
