Your tasks

Our core task in Group Risk Management – Risk Control (GRM-RC) is managing the bank’s global market and liquidity risks as well as monitoring regulatory and economic risk-bearing capacity. In a fast-paced environment, we are close to the financial markets and continuously involved in bank-wide projects. Working in GRM-RC offers many opportunities to take on responsibility and show your potential.

During the 18-month trainee program, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the various risk functions and develop both personally and professionally:

You choose a specialized department within GRM-RC as your “home base,” where you will deepen your knowledge and further develop yourself.

Additionally, you have the opportunity to gain diverse insights through rotations in other areas of the bank, for example in other types of risk or during a stay at Commerzbank in Frankfurt.

Together with your team lead, you plan the rotations to match your skills and interests.

You will learn important methods of risk and price assessment as well as risk management, such as stress tests, scenario analyses, and other data- and method-based evaluation procedures.

You analyze relevant data, assess current developments, and drive the bank’s digitalization forward with your ideas and analyses.

Throughout the entire trainee period, you will be accompanied by a buddy from the junior community to make your start easier. You will also be part of our “Class of 2026” and start together with other trainees. We offer you the opportunity to participate in inspiring qualification programs and to build valuable networks within Commerzbank.

We are looking for support in the following department: Market Risk, Banking Books and Liquidity Risk Teams in Prague

In the market risk function, our team is responsible for the comprehensive group-wide reporting of market risk and fair value valuation data to Commerzbank's senior management and regulatory authorities. This includes daily P&L and market risk reporting to the Board of Directors, as well as the calculation of regulatory capital requirements for market risk.

Your profile

  • During your studies in mathematics, physics, economics, finance or business administration (or a similar subject), you have demonstrated your strong analytical and methodological skills.
  • You have gained initial practical experience through internships, ideally in a bank, e.g. in the field of finance or risk controlling.
  • You have an in-depth knowledge of financial products, their evaluation and risk profiles, and methods for risk quantification.
  • You have knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL or R and are confident in using MS Office products.
  • As a team player, you convince with a high degree of willingness to perform and personal responsibility.
  • You have an eye for the essentials and the ability to communicate appreciatively, clearly and motivating.
  • Strong communication skills in English - both verbal and written, as majority of communication is in English.
  • General technical skills and expertise in utilizing SharePoint technologies, MS Teams, and MS Office Suite effectively.
