At Commerzbank, we have just embarked on an ambitious project to rewrite the entire platform upon which our mobile and online banking services are built. As one of the leading banks in Europe, a new technology platform is needed to keep ahead of the competition as our millions of customers demand more features and more data delivered in real-time to their fingertips. For this massive and highly complex project of critical importance, we are looking for top class people to deliver Europe’s best banking experience.
To deliver this new project, we are building a new team here in Prague, starting with a core group of Business Analysts and Architects to lay the foundations of the project. Over the course of 2026, the team will grow to include frontend and backend developers working on core infrastructure and delivering key features.
As an experienced DevOps engineer, you will be involved in the development of infrastructure, CICD and other areas of automation such as testing.
This also involves the development of a testing and eventually production environments with monitoring, fault remediation, root-cause analysis, impact assessment and communication with stakeholders. Close cooperation with the development team will be essential to solve production issues and manage regular deliveries as well as production hot-fixes.
Your experience in DevOps and architecture will play a vital role when cooperating with the development team on the architectural design choices when designing the application landscape. Therefore, experience with distributed systems, cloud-based infrastructure and microservice/monolithic architecture will be imperative.
Your tasks
- Developing technical architectural specifications in compliance with overarching architectural principles from infrastructural and operatable; perspective to make the application more resilient, more stable and future orientated;
- Hold responsibility for the operation of the production systems of the new project;
- Prepare software builds and release packages and deploy them, i.e. participate in the preparation and implementation of changes to the given environment;
- Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms;
- Contributing to the analysis of faults and errors, as an active contribution to the excellent operational stability of our applications;
- Work with the development team to fix production issues;
- Support the rollouts in production;
- Provide consultation on planning of infrastructure and tooling;
- Design, implement and maintain CICD pipelines;
- Participate in a pool of operations engineers to provide on-call support of banking applications.
Your profile
Technical:
- Unix/Linux knowledge on the level of application operations;
- Monitoring and logging experience, e.g. Dynatrace, Kibana;
- Scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.);
- IaC – Infrastructure as code – Helm, Kustomize;
- Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes;
- Familiarity with Java based frameworks, SQL/NOSQL databases, Kafka;
- CICD pipelines including experience in designing and implementing them;
- Process automation experience.
Other skills and experience:
- Analytical thinking with attention to detail to identify, isolate and solve problems;
- Responsibility and proactivity;
- Cross team communications;
- Fluency in English – both written and spoken as you will be in daily contact with native and non-native speakers.
