Mid-Senior Database Engineer (FlexHub) (m/f/diverse)

    Your tasks

    • Developing, migrating, extending and maintaining database schemes and solutions for digital products and services of the Bank.
    • Supporting migrations of database objects to PostgreSQL databases from Oracle/MS-SQL/Sybase.
    • Exploring different approaches, Database design and optimizations as well as track and tune performance with the help of operations
    • Helping to design and develop solutions for complex business requirements and business data objects of the digital finance functionalities and processes.
    • Supporting incident resolution and bug fixing and support the test and development team
    • Working in an agile team setup, meaning the team includes business domain colleagues, business analysts, architects, developers and application operation experts.

    Your profile

    • Experience with Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL
    • Understanding of software testing methodologies, QA processes, and best practices
    • In-depth knowledge of data flow architecture, optimization and modeling
    • Solid expertise in coding database SQL and PLSQL programs, procedures, packages, triggers and data load operations
    • A good experience in database administration, tuning, debugging and data manipulation
    • Familiarity with integration of SQL code within unix, PHP, Python scripts
    • Knowledge in data protection and code quality practices.
    • Good collaboration and communication skills
    • Good team player with good ability to work in cross-locational and international teams
    • Fluent English

    As part of this strategy, Commerzbank continues the expansion of its Digital Technology Center in Sofia, Bulgaria. We need motivated people who will join us on this journey, and we are looking for a Mid-Senior Database engineer in our FlexHub team.

    The Cluster FlexHub supports all clusters within Delivery Organization of Commerzbank with skilled personel, teams and IT services for strategic initiatives bringing innovation to products. We work in the Cluster in an agile structure, in which the teams work independently and flexibly on their tasks. Each team assumes responsibility for the product in the application and context environment from start to finish, from business analysis to software development to operation. The teams use agile working methods for their organization to deliver products to customers faster and more efficiently.

    As part of the delivery cell, you will be working on the development of an IT product and helping to transform Commerzbank into a digital technology company. You will also develop and tune database programs or procedures using SQL language in close co-operation with business analysts and application operation experts of your team, design optimal data load and manipulation batches according to the application needs. You are responsible for understanding complex applications, data flows and their business purposes to integrate new modules, changes or releases into our IT landscape. You shall play a key role in supporting applications in migrations to Open-Source databases by supporting the applications during the re-writing or re-coding database SQL programs or procedures from Oracle/MS-SQL/Sybase to PostgreSQL
