The Strategic Market Data Service initiative introduces valuation processes for Commerzbank Risk Control, C&M Financial Markets and Treasury, by providing independent market data for all Commerzbank’s financial products trading positions. The initiative is aiming for simplification and centralization of the Trading and Market Risk market data ecosystem by consolidating existing market data repositories.
The Market Data Repository Platform (MDR+) is the central platform, based upon the GoldenSource EDM software. including the Independent Pricing Unit (IPU) as one application delivering controlled independent end of day market data. MDR+ is a full cloud native based platform which combines vendor components, custom extensions and integration to existing bank systems and services.
We are looking for a new colleague to join us as an experienced Senior Business Analyst with very strong Technical and Risk Management/Trading skills.
You will be working in a fast-changing environment with cutting edge technology, in a cross-functional team of business analysts, developers and DevOps specialists who use agile methods to maintain and further develop the platform.
Our team is based in three locations – Prague, Frankfurt, London, which will require you to travel and meet your colleagues from time to time. The team’s communication language is English.

Your tasks
closely collaborate with the Business Owners in the development and customization of the platform. This comprises of the whole software development lifecycle from the analysis of new stakeholder requirements, writing the business specification, design, interacting with developers, establishing test cases, performing tests and communicating with users until the final release to production.
Specifically, you will:
- Ensure close interaction with Risk, Trading and Treasury stakeholders to understand their processes and needs. You will serve as an interface between business stakeholders and core delivery teams.
- Generate ideas on how to improve the end-to-end business processes.
- Perform business analysis and translation of the business requirements in detailed specifications for implementation and configuration in MDR+ complemented by technical analysis.
- Analysis, design and digitalization of processes.
- Create end-to-end workflow specifications (incl. visualizations and SLAs for each workflow component) and design (including integration layer, scheduler components, main MDR+ customization, inbound/outbound system interfaces).
- Create design of models, methods and processes and translate specifications MDR+ functionality (using the domain language of MDR+).
- Development and operationalization of data-driven models.
- Analyze and create specifications for the inbound/outbound interfaces of Trading systems and services delivered by the external systems.
- Implementation and improvements of End-of-day Valuation and Market data workflows as MDR+ workflows components using external vendor configurations.
- Analyze data and processes using standard tools, excel, python SQL.
- Software and data engineering, using agile methodologies and full-stack development.
- Testing new features and functionality to ensure that requirements are met, and the resulting user experience is as intended.
- Improve efficiency of the application and enhance the user experience.
- Become a helping hand to business users using our application.
- Provide 3rd level support for the application.
- Maintain rigorous, good quality functional and technical documentation of the data flows, data processes and the platform.
Your profile
- University degree (Master/PhD) in physics, mathematics, computer science or natural, engineering or economic sciences with a corresponding quantitative, analytical or technological specialization.
- Completion of CFA/FRM levels or similar certification is an advantage.
- Minimum 5+ years work experience as a Senior business analyst within the financial industry, with additional experience of working as a technical analyst.
- Domain experience in Investment Banking, Treasury, Market Risk Management, Risk Valuation or related IT roles.
- In-depth knowledge of financial markets and instruments/products (FX, IR, Credit, Commodities, Equities) their valuations and models (fair value calculations), and financial mathematics.
- Familiar with at least one of the following subjects: mathematical statistics, numerical analysis, simulation techniques (e.g. Monte Carlo), optimisation methods (e.g. simulated annealing), and financial mathematical modelling.
- Industry experience within the IT area having previously worked on projects with client facing exposure.
- Strong knowledge of major market data providers (e.g., Refinitiv, Bloomberg etc.) and their technical products.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis, business workflow and data modelling and experience of creating specification for development team.
- Experience with working with off the shelf products and with customer defined product customisations.
- Previous experience of working with GoldenSource is beneficial.
- Possess significant IT knowledge coupled with practical programming skills.
- Motivated to work on challenging applied quantitative issues requiring both, business understanding and technological expertise.
- Proficiency with data analysis using SQL, Python and Excel as well as general Java knowledge.
